Stefan Fitzner is a Basel/Switzerland-based Motion Graphic Designer and Filmmaker. He is also a Member of
the european artist collective «We Invented Paris». He is currently developing a documentary film about the first
european tour of «We Invented Paris». The Movie's still untitled and should be released in fall 2011.
He recently created and finished a series of Short films and experimental album trailers for «WIP» and other independent Bands like the german «Deep Sea Diver» which he and Cinematographer/Composer Timm Markgraf shot exclusively on several places in the metropoles of Europe during their tours. For the past 3 years he has also been working with the Institute of Fashion Design, University of Art of Northwestern Switzerland and the Basel School of Design as a Photographer and Graphic Designer. In his freelance work with the Basel School of Design, he has designed an exhibition plan for the Swiss Poster Collection in collaboration with Peter Olpe, long-standing Deputy Director of the School.2009, assistant tutor for the international Summer Programme «Basics in Design and Typography» in collaboration with Wolfgang Weingart, Anne-Christine Krämer and Florian Dürhammer of the Basel School of Design, working in an international student exchange program.
Born in 1984 in Swiss Schaffhausen, He spent his first few years in an impersonal apartment block district in the industrial border region near Germany. To escape this amorphous grey scene, He spent his childhood sketching and playing music. The desire grew to improve his surroundings aesthetically through art and abstraction and so to
breathe new life into his personal environment. At the beginning of the Nineties Stefan Fitzner moved to Basel which became his new home town. For him, formed by the dull Schaffhausen conurbation, the new city bubbled with positive cultural and artistic impressions. At 15, still convinced that his future lay in the creative profession of auto-mobile design, Fitzner started working in the research department of a plastic manufacturer. And then, one day, a colleague thrust into his hands a copy of the documentary about the world tour of British alternative-rock band Radiohead, «Meeting people is easy» directed by Grant Gee. From the moment he first watched it he knew that
he wished to spend the rest of his life working with film and music. After his time in the plastics company, in 2005 Fitzner began to study New Media and Film at the Basel School of Design. After years working as a freelancer and
in a film production agency, in 2011 he joined «We Invented Paris» as a Motion Artist and Filmmaker.

Zusammen mit Kameramann und Komponist
Timm Markgraf filmte er in den Metropolen Europas während der Tour der Band .In den vergangenen 3 Jahren arbeitete Stefan Fitzner unter Anderem für die Basel, School of Design, Das Institut Modedesign der Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz und die Bibliothek für Gestaltung Basel als Fotograf und Grafiker. Als Freelancer gestaltete er
für die Basel School of Design eine Ausstellung mit der Schweizer Plakatsammlung unter der Führung von Peter Olpe, langjähriger stv. Direktor der Basel, School of Design. 2009 nahm Fitzner eine Assistenzstelle am internationalen Sommerprogramm «Basics in Design and Typograph» an. In Zusammenarbeit mit den Grafikern Wolfgang Weingart, Anne-Christine Krämer und Florian Dürhammer gestalteten sie eine interaktive Dokumentation über das Internationale Studenten-Austauschprogramm.
Geboren 1984 im schweizerischen Schaffhausen, verbrachte er die ersten Jahre seiner Kindheit in einem lieblosen Wohnblockviertel im Industriellen Grenzgebiet nahe der deutschen Grenze. Dieser formlosen grauen Gegend ent-fliehend, verbrachte Stefan Fitzner bereits in jungen Jahren Stunden und Tage mit Zeichnen und musizieren.
Früh wuchs in ihm das Verlangen alles um sich herum durch Abzeichnen und abstrahieren in eine ästhetische Form
zu bringen und so seiner Umwelt Leben einzuhauchen. Anfangs der Neunziger zog er nach Basel, welche zu seiner Heimat wurde. Geprägt vom tristen Leben in der Agglomeration, sprudelte diese Stadt förmlich vor kulturellen und künstlerischen Impressionen. Als 15 Jähriger noch immer fest entschlossen einen kreativen Beruf als Automobil-designer zu verfolgen, arbeitete Fitzner in einem Kunststoffkonzern in der Forschungsabteilung. Bis ihm ein Arbeits-kollege den Dokumentarfilm «Meeting people is easy» von Grant Gee über die Welttour der britische Alternative-
Rock Band «Radiohead» in die Hand drückte: Vom Augenblick an, als er den Film gesehen hatte, wollte Fitzner für den Rest seines Lebens nur noch mit Film und Musik arbeiten. Nach seiner Zeit in der Chemie, begann er 2005 sein Studium an der Basel School of Design im Bereich Neue Medien und Film und nahm Aufträge im Bereich Grafik, Fotografie, Ausstellungsgestaltung und Video an. Nach Jahren als Freelancer und Arbeiten für eine Film Produktions-Agentur, trat er 2011 als Filmer dem Künstlerkollektiv «We Invented Paris» bei.
